Owning a hermit crab is not as common as having other pets, but you will find them just as adorable as a tarantula or a python. If the thought of this is new to you, then it is only natural to try to find other sources of hermit crabs information about caring and feeding of these pets.
If you have any of the two other pets, please do not make the mistake of putting your hermit crab along with the tarantula or the python. Not that I have anything against them; it is just I have a lot more nice things to talk about hermit crabs. And I will start by saying that it has the qualities of being a really, really great pet!

- If your kid gets ecstatic over a hermit crab she sees through the pet store’s window or in a tourist shop somewhere, tell her that what she is looking at is either a terrestrial or land hermit crab and that this crab belongs to the coenobitidae family.
- Land hermit crabs have peculiar attributes that make them very noticeable. First of all, they have a shell for home, which is actually taken from other animals after they have died. Hermit crabs begin their life from the ocean and have the ability to live several months outside of water. They do need to go back to the water form time to time, in order for them to replenish the moisture in themselves and to cool off.
- Unlike other animals, you may be surprised to find out that these pets need quite a little amount of supplies to feed and take care of them. If you are thinking of buying one, then try to consider buying a lot more than just one for they can provide an inexpensive way of happiness.
- These types of crabs are generally "happy crabs". Once you start to get to know them, you will understand quite well what this means. Try not to take their names literally; it may be called a hermit and a crab, but it actually likes to be around a lot of other crabs.
- Having a lot of them tighter also creates a more natural scene of them in nature. In fact, a lot of hermit crab owners try to put as many of these guys together in a single place for this reason.
